The work
Professor in the Department of Plant Biology at Rutgers University and a 40-year researcher of endophytic fungi and bacteria. His team’s 2018 paper in Microorganisms named the rhizophagy cycle and documented it in dozens of plant species. AAAS Fellow (2005); recipient of the Mycological Society of America’s Alexopoulos Prize (1996).
Recorded as described rather than proven: the rhizophagy cycle is still presented by its own authors as a hypothesis supported by histochemical and inhibitor evidence, not as a settled mechanism.
