Description

Included for the other half of the mislabelling case. This is the Morus alba cultivar that was regularly sold as ‘Black Beauty’, a Morus nigra.

A name collision between two cultivars of one species is an inconvenience. A collision across species, where one is the native-hybridising introduced tree and the other is not, is a different order of problem — it means a grower cannot answer the ecological question in this file’s notes from the label alone.

The fix is the same one the hickory file arrives at: buy from a nursery that propagates its own known stock, and treat everything else as provisional.

Where to find it

No source recorded. That does not mean the cultivar is unavailable, only that this record does not yet name a nursery carrying it. Point us at one and it goes in.
