Indian-Australian soil scientist and ecologist, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science. Long based at Western Sydney University’s Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, where he directed the Global Centre for Land-Based Innovation until 2023; now a professor at the University of Western Australia with an adjunct role at WSU. Co-author of the 2018 global soil bacteria atlas. Awards include the Humboldt Research Award (2019) and Dorothy Jones Prize (2023). President of the Global Initiative of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment.
