The work
Professor of soil biogeochemistry at the University of New Hampshire and a leader of its Center for Soil Biogeochemistry and Microbial Ecology. The 2016 Nature Communications study he co-led with Cynthia Kallenbach and Serita Frey showed microbes alone can build chemically diverse, stable SOM from simple substrates, supporting the microbial-carbon-pump and MEMS frameworks. Also works on nitrogen synchrony in agricultural soils.
