Description
A pollinizer, released alongside ‘Eta’ and recorded here as a cultivar because in this crop that is exactly what it is. ‘Jefferson’ is planted with three of them — ‘Felix’ earliest, ‘Eta’ in the middle, ‘Theta’ latest — and the reason is the length of the female bloom, which can run from late November into March. One pollinizer covers part of that window. Three cover it.
The blight resistance matters as much here as in a nut cultivar. A susceptible pollinizer is a reservoir of inoculum standing inside a resistant block.
