An exceptionally good pollen parent in the 1997 and 1998 Connecticut trials

Description

One of the two cultivars the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station suggests to people planting only a few chestnuts, the other being ‘Sleeping Giant’. It was an exceptionally good pollen parent in both the 1997 and 1998 seasons, and CAES has used it as a parent in later crosses with C. henryi and C. ozarkensis.

Its own parentage is not recorded here. The sources consulted describe crosses made using Eaton without stating where Eaton itself came from.
